This past week we participated in “Snowpocalypse 2011. Although we didn’t get hit as hard as many did, we did have about 7 inches of snow, 6 foot high drifts, and were snowed in for two days. We had plenty of warning and were well prepared with plenty of food, water and firewood. We all kept busy with our hobbies and games and I even learned a few new things about my husband…..
I now know why Greg is such a good electrician. He spent his snow days sorting the Legos he brought back from his mom’s house a few weeks ago. He says this is what he did as a kid. Hmmm……we just sorted by kinds of blocks, dumped into a pail. This is how Greg sorts:
Every color and size in neatly stacked rows.
Uh oh. He’s giving me that “don’t mock me woman!” look. I think I better go back to the sewing room.
I joined up in a “mug rug” swap, and here’s what I made for my partner:
She says she loves batiks. We were supposed to make two, so here’s the other one:
Then I decided I needed one for myself:
I love the cherry fabric! This goes so well with my yellow and green and red and blue kitchen!
Lastly I made this purse from the batik jelly roll I had purchased to make the mug rugs. I’m not a huge batik fan, but I do love the bright colors!
Overall it turned out to be a very productive winter “snowcation”!

Now I found your blog and the beautiful mug rugs!
Thanks a lot, love them!
Greetings from Germany

Your quilts and things are so pretty! I love quilts, the pretty fabric, but detest the cutting up of said fabric to sew it all back together again. I've decided I'm happier with a ball of yarn and a hook :)
I've clicked over from Chickens in the Road :)
